Music Box
For around 30 years, Music Box has been a treasure trove for music and movie lovers inside Durham Market Hall – and behind the counter throughout that time has been owner Keith, whose passion and knowledge have helped make the shop a firm favourite with collectors and casual browsers alike.
Music fans will find hundreds of CDs and vinyl records covering an eclectic mix of genres, including pop, rock, jazz, blues and country, with both new and pre-loved titles amongst the ever-changing selection. Whether you’re replacing a much-loved album, rediscovering the soundtrack to your youth or simply seeing what catches your eye, there’s always plenty to rummage through.
But Music Box isn’t only about music. Keith also stocks an extensive collection of DVDs, and this is where the shop really comes into its own for lovers of nostalgia. Alongside films from across the decades, you’ll find classic and harder-to-find movies, as well as much-loved television series and sitcoms – with programmes from the 1960s and 1970s a particular speciality.
If there is something particular on your wish list, don’t give up if you can’t spot it on the shelves. Have a chat with Keith. With decades of experience behind him and an impressive knowledge of music, film and television, he may be able to help source specific titles for your collection.
Whether you’re a serious collector, a lifelong music fan, a lover of classic cinema and television, or simply someone who misses the pleasure of having a proper browse, step inside Music Box. You never know what you might find.
